What are Chemical Peels?

A chemical peel is a skin resurfacing procedure used to improve the texture and appearance of the skin, particularly on the face, neck, and hands. The procedure involves the application of a special chemical solution to the area being treated, which causes the skin to exfoliate and eventually peel off.  The new, regenerated skin will be smoother, less wrinkled and damaged than the older skin. Chemical peels in Ajman are classified into three types:

  • Light Chemical Peels remove the damaged outer layer of skin(epidermis), fine wrinkles, acne, uneven skin tone, and dryness.
  • Medium Chemical Peels remove skin cells from the epidermis and upper portion of dermis, wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven skin tone.
  • Superficial Chemical Peels remove skin cells from deeper layers, deeper wrinkles, deep acne scars, and extensive sun-damaged skin.

Benefits of Chemical Peel Treatment

Chemical peels can enhance skin texture and tone along with offering a wide range of benefits, including:

  • Improve the color, tone, and texture of the skin.
  • Stimulate the synthesis of new collagen and healthy skin cells.
  • Reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and signs of aging.
  • The skin becomes softer, smoother, and more hydrated.
  • Reduce acne breakouts and inflammation.
  • Skin becomes clearer, young-looking, and radiant.
  • Reduce pigmentation and signs of sun damage.

What conditions does a Chemical Peel treat?

Chemical peels can help create a smoother and refreshed appearance by managing skin conditions such as:

  • Certain types of acne and mild acne scarring
  • Fine lines around the eyes and mouth and wrinkles are caused by sun damage, aging, and hereditary factors.
  • Sun spots, freckles, and age spots

The Chemical Peel Procedure in Ajman

At Bliss Clinic, we provide chemical peel treatments that are customized for your benefits and tailored for your skin type. Our dermatologists will suggest the course of treatment and guide you throughout the procedure with pre-care and after-care assistance.

Step 1: Comprehensive skin assessment and personalized treatment plan

  • We offer a one-to-one consultation with an expert skin specialist who will conduct a detailed examination of your skin type and discuss any skin conditions along with your pre-existing medical history and current medications.

Step 2: Preparation for the procedure

  • The doctor will advise you to discontinue waxing, epilating, facial scrubs, and depilatory hair removal products one week before the procedure. They will also ask you to stop taking certain medications and may prescribe antibiotics or antiviral medications.

Step 3: Procedure for chemical peels

  • The chemical peel session at our skin clinic in Ajman is an outpatient procedure. The physician cleanses the treatment area, and the eyes are covered with gauze or goggles for protection. A brush is then used to apply the chemical solution, which is left on for 3 to 5 minutes, depending on its type. Mild discomfort may be felt during this stage. Once the procedure is done, the physician will apply a neutralizing solution to remove the peel.

Step 4: Post-treatment care and advice

  • Follow the doctor’s order for sun protection, cleansing, and moisturizing. Avoid rubbing, pricking, or scratching the skin. For a week, refrain from waxing, threading, or bleaching treated areas. For 72 hours post-treatment, skip Retin-A and sensitive products. Keep skin hydrated with moisturizer.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Chemical peels are generally safe for the skin if performed by a certified dermatologist.

For optimal results, you will probably require more sessions. The peels are often repeated numerous times over the course of several months.

Chemical peels are not recommended if you have a history of abnormal skin scarring, skin conditions, or having extra color in the scars.

Chemical peels rarely cause mild discomfort, but the pain level can vary depending on the type of peel and individual pain tolerance. Superficial peels may cause temporary pain, while deeper peels require detailed aftercare.

Chemical peels are a natural blend of acids and enzymes that exfoliate your skin and stimulate cell turnover. They remove dead cells from the top layer and encourage new cell growth. Peels also stimulate collagen and elastin production, which aids in the lessening of fine lines and wrinkles.
