veneers in ajman

Wanna hide your dental imperfections? Then veneers are the best. Veneers, also known as dental porcelain laminates or porcelain veneers, are thin, custom-made shells that exactly look like your teeth in colour and shape. These can be attached to the front portion of your teeth and thus hide the imperfections and enhance their appearance. Mostly, veneers are used to hide issues with teeth such as chipped, broken, discoloured, or smaller-than-average teeth.

For a beautiful and celebrity-like smile, dental veneers are a great cosmetic dentistry option. Dental veneers are made of porcelain or resin composite materials, whose specialty is that they get permanently bonded to the teeth. In some situations, broken or chipped teeth can be treated with a single veneer, but in many cases, they need at least six to eight veneers to create a symmetrical smile. In general, veneers are applied to the top eight front teeth. At Bliss Medical Center, we give different kinds of cosmetic dentistry services to our clients in a personalised way, exclusively tailored for the patients’ needs.

Types of Veneers

There are different types of veneers used in the cosmetic dentistry field now. Among them some of the widely used veneers are Porcelain, Composite Resin, No-Prep Veneers, Same-Day Veneers, and palatal veneers.

Porcelain Veneers

Also known as traditional veneers, this is the most common form of veneer and is designed to last up to 20 years. The procedure is like this: initially, the impression of your teeth will be taken to create a set of veneers that fits you. At first, a temporary veneer will be applied, and in the next sitting, the front of each tooth will be grinded or buffed to prepare for the permanent set of porcelain veneers. Local anaesthesia will be used to numb the area, and then permanent veneers will be applied and fitted. This material is less likely to chip, but if it does, it is hard to repair.

Composite Resin Veneers

It is a budget-friendly veneer type that lasts for five to 10 years and is used for tooth fillings and cosmetic bonding. This can reduce the appearance of chips, discolouration and minor cracks. These veneers can be applied in one go and are easy to repair. But the issue is that this material is more likely to stain and chip.

No Prep Veneers

No prior preparations are needed for this veneer. The dentist only needs to remove a section of enamel rather than the enamel and tissue underneath. This veneer is useful for a translucent appearance but not effective for darker staining and damage. This has only the thickness of a contact lens and can be removed easily. With the appropriate care, these will last around 20 years.

Same-Day Veneers

No waiting is involved in this process. Veneers can be applied on the same day you visit our clinic. These are mainly used to mask minor dental imperfections or address one or two damaged teeth. Applications and minor adjustments will all be done on the same day before you leave the clinic.

Palatal Veneers

Palatal veneers are a very comfortable type of veneer that is not only used for cosmetic purposes but also serves as a dental restoration for oral health problems. This requires tooth preparation by removing the damaged part of the tooth and then reshaping it. The dentist will apply the palatal onlay to the tooth in the preservation of the tooth structure. The onlay used here minimises the risk of severe damage to the teeth. Onlays allow patients to talk and eat more comfortably, decreasing the risk of bacteria seeping into their teeth.

Precautions Before and After Veneers

Before getting into the actual veneer treatment, there should be a session between the patient and the dentist in which the patient can talk about their other disease history and the medicines they are currently using. The current condition of the patient, such as if the patient is pregnant or has any heart disease, etc. The dental surgeon will let them know if any risk is involved in the patient’s veneer treatment. After that, the dentist will do a deep cleansing of the teeth and gums to remove tartar and bacteria from the teeth and gums. Our dentist uses dental cement to bond the veneer to the teeth. And then using ultraviolet light to make this cement harder. Thus, the veneer process will be finished.

Precaution is inevitable after the veneers are applied, too. This is so crucial. The right care is needed to maintain the veneers for a long time. Practice proper oral hygiene; this will not only prolong the life of your veneers but also keep your mouth healthy. Try to use a soft brush and proper toothpaste. Hard bristled toothbrushes can cause the polish on your veneers to become damaged. Veneers are durable, but they are not quite as strong as regular teeth. So try not to chew on hard objects. Completely avoid foods that stain your teeth, and also quit smoking. These make your veneers stained and discolored. Frequent dental check-ups are mandatory. Make sure you visit your dentist regularly to ensure they continue to keep your smile looking bright and beautiful.
